In Divisional Library (south) Sector-34, Newspaper and Magazine/Reading Section with seating capacity of more than one hundred persons, provides reading room facilities to a variety of readers and students who bring their own books and reading materials for self study. The perfect reading environment to students in reading room can, only be experienced by visiting this section. At any point not less than 60-80 readers are sitting in the section and many a times they just don’t find a seat. This section is the biggest attraction of the State Library-34.This which is absent in most of other public libraries in Chandigarh. In this section, files of latest employment notices, admission notices, and other information of interest to public are also maintained. Approximately – 500 persons visit this section everyday. Library subscribes to 25 newspapers and 90 periodicals.

Reading Room of the library in the basement of the building is the most suited place for the students preparing for competitions and professional engaged in higher studies. It can accommodate another about hundred readers.
